Promotion/News/Discuss new names

I'm here to talk about a new project I have been thinking about. It will be a website for the forum, like many big forums have. I will try to get a good domain instead of something stupid. This forum will not be too much on manga or anime, seeing sites like serebii or psypokes does a good job of it. We will be focusing more on Development and programing and hacking. I will get more into this.

As this site grows, we have to talk about some stuff so we can prevent them from happening. This is mainly to staff, including myself. So far everything has worked out well, but just in case thing don't go well in the future.

1. Never have arguments with another staff on a thread. Never, this will make the community seem weak.

2. Always be respective of the other staff's decision. If you think the other staff choice (ex. closing a thread) was not right, please say so and tell them why when reopening the thread.

I think that if a problem would occur it would be best to resolve it through private messages. Idk what you mean about the website thing though.

A site to promote this site, many big forums have them, even though PC got rid of them.

Err, IMO a site for only development and gaming is not going to attract many people. We need one that focuses on lots of areas like Pokecommunity. I do, however, see what you are saying, Serebii and Psypokes focus on the anime,mangas and what not so this one should focus on games. TBH, I think it would be better if we covered the things like anime.

Before you get a good domain name like Pokecommunity, Serebii, or anything like it we need more members. For one, we barely have any. Sure we technically have 61(give or take a few)members, but how many of them log on? Pretty much none. The staff logs on, and like five members. So, making a good domain name would be a no-no. 'Sides they cost money and stuff to keep 'em up and running and then to implement new features. Yeah I know we could get people like that, but it is good to have a few from the start.

When/If a domain like Serebii is created, we will need something creative to draw people to it, and not just Developer land or Developers and Gamers. We would also need people who could make layouts and work HTML and CSS. Because people will enjoy the benefit of having a wide selection of things. Also, we would need a forum smartie who could fix the errors and things like that.

So, to put it simply I don't think this forum is ready to go big like Serebii. They have V Bulletin which is quite costly. Now I know they have others that are cheaper, but V Bulletin is just one example. For further information on V Bulletin check out this: http://www.vbulletin.com/ : Link.

You must remember, when a site is in beginning stage, keeping members active is difficult. If we offer the same things PC offers, why would they choose us. If you think I'm not trying, then you are mistaken, I sent so many PMs to people to come here. I go to Youtube and post on comments about here.

What else do you want to offer. Pokemon related, my best knowledge is about romhacking and the anime. I tried the funny clip section to get people to watch and discuss those videos.

About the URL. I don't know if we will ever get that kind of URL the big sites use. I can't say if I will get one like that in the future. I do think we need a new name, seriously, I think developerland or developers and gamers are bad names.

Give ideas on names here.

Just to be clear, don't ask for promotion. Gamer2020 never asked for a promotion before, but has been promoted 3 times. I can't say if or when you will be an admin. Admin is a big leap from mod/super mod. I have been thinking of Gamer2020's promotion for some time now. I might just create a co admin rank, but perhaps in the future.

Yeah I know we are beginning and it is tough. Things are always tough in the beginning (except in videogames where the start is easy) I know you are trying, it is just that it is so hard. All the forum sites you can't really ask people to join. So, yeah it is hard. I know you aren't giving up, neither am I. I also wasn't stating to offer the same things as PC it was a thought to have a narrower focus and then have other sections.

I wasn't really saying to change it. I was just stating that lots of people don't like rom hacking/developing. However, a ton of people do, do it. What I was saying is that just focusing on that would be bad in the long run. That could be the big focus but also put a bit more thought and time into other sections.

I do have to agree with you their. It would be nice to get one though. These free sites don't really get all those cool features. That is a big reason why I like Pokecommunity. Developerland and stuff, yeah they are bad names, but who knows Developerland does have a halfway nice ring to it.

And as a closing statement, All of it would be nice, but before we do it we need to work to get more dedicated members.

The first thing we need is a name. Please suggest some!

It won't be soon, anyway, I'm not promoting new people for a while. From now on, I think we will be discussing as a group on future promotions.
