Script Request Thread Empty Re: Script Request Thread

    Post by Bl00dyBizkitz Wed Dec 31, 2008 11:06 am

Hello, I guess I'll be first to step up to the plate.

I'm trying to get a script where in the very begginning of the game where I come downstairs from my room, my mom gets the "!" icon above her head like when a trainer see's you, and walks over to you.

Hopefully I explained it well enough and hopefully you can help me with this.

Script Request Thread Empty Re: Script Request Thread

Post by Hiche Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:00 pm

    Well, this is pretty simple.

    XSE format:

    Code:
    #dynamic 0xoffset

    #org @1
    lock
    checkflag 0x1000
    if 0x1 goto @done
    applymovement 0x0<person event number> @move
    waitmovement 0x0
    message @2 0x6
    applymovement 0x0<person event number> @back
    waitmovement 0x0
    setflag 0x1000
    release
    end

    #org @done
    release
    end

    #org @move
    #raw 0x62
    <moves here>
    #raw 0xFE ' closes movements.

    #org @2
    = <message here>

    #org @back
    <moves here>
    #raw 0xFE

    Little explanation:

applymovement is the command that calls the sprite to move. In this case your mom. The "person event number" can be found in Advance Map. Click on the mom, and look at the right side. You will find it.

"moves here" are the moves you want to implement on your mom to walk to you, and go back. #raw 0x62 is the "!". #raw 0xFE simply stops the movement process. It should always be there.

I advise you to read some tutorials, and search for the moves list.

Note that this script requires the latest version of XSE (1.1.1). You can find it in the Tools section in PokeCommunity.

    Hope that helps.

    well i need
a script where you see a aqua grunt running from prof birch's house then when you can't see him you say "Was that team AQUA"
well i think this i were the script ends right?
then when you walk or run to route 103 he's going to be there with another aqua grunt so there's two now a magma grunt goes up to them and you see the aqua grunt dropped a pokemon (which is chimchar pokemon number 10)you pick it up then the magma grunt asks you to help him then you double battle the aqua grunts
when you defeat them prof birch comes and takes the pokemon from the aqua grunt
    and thats it

Script Request Thread Empty Dialouge Option Script

Post by Haren Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:15 pm

Well, I don't even know if this is possible, but if it is, it would be greatly appreciated if you could explain it for me. I'm working on a hack atm, and one of the main features is going to be the ability to pick multiple speech options.

    Example:

Guard - "Hey, what are you doing here? This area is for authorized personel only!"

You - "1. I'm looking for someone/something, could you help me? (Leads to more dialouge options)"
"2. I must have taken a wrong turn. I'll be going now. (Ends dialouge)"
"3. Whatever I please. Got an issue with it? (Leads to more dialouge options, and possibly a trainer battle)"

This is very important to me, as I am using it, in one example, in conjunction with a givepokemon script, wherein depending on which options you pick, you get a specific pokemon (which is what I'm doing for the starter pokemon).

If you could provide me with a guideline, or showing me a script that does what I've requested, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I get what your trying to say, but the actually script would be very difficult to make. You know how to script right?

A method in doing this script is:
First put your first option as a yes/no question. (boxset 5)
Then if it's no, then go to the next question and put a another yes/no one
It if it's no again, then finally show the last option, if that's no too, go to the first one.

Each option could be direct at different events occurring within the script. Or it could set different flags and another script could look for that flag and give the specific Pokemon according to the flag.

Yeah, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it that way, since it's something I've considered myself.

One of my solutions to the problem would be to switch to an Emerald ROM (hacking Fire Red atm). There's a spot in the game where you are talking to Wallace about Rayquaza's location, and based on which one you pick he says something different. Somehow editting those options would work, which would be hard too. Another solution would be editting/creating specials, like the ones in the Casino and such. If I could do that, then it would work so much easier.

Anyone know if editting/creating specials can be done?

    Post by G.K.S. Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:49 pm

It might be able to be done, but it could also be hard. The easiest method might be the one I suggested. I'm not such an advanced scripter or anything, so I don't know how to create that box with the three options.

If you are planning on using emerald, there is a tool that lets you edit already made scripts. It's called PKSV. I would just go with the yes/no method, but I know it would look better when playing the game if it weren't like that.

Maybe someone else could help you. Do you want a link to where to get PKSV?

Yes, I would, thank you. I'll try the Yes/No option in-game, and see how it looks. If I don't much like it, then I'll definately switch to Emerald. I wanted to use it in the first place, since the graphics aren't that much different, I like the hero sprites more, and the animated pokemon icons are very appealing, but I started with Advance Text (a program that I don't even use anymore and found to be pretty useless) and it didn't have an index for Emerald.

So yes. Give me the link please ^.^ Meantime, I'm going to start an Intro thread and a Progressing hack thread. Thanks for the help, and trust me, I'll have many more questions for you guys in the future ^.^! (Probably some about this program lol)

You could actually use this program with Advance Map, choose the program as the script editor in Advance Map and you could open scripts in Advance Map.
